Now I told you once that I make patchwork and quilts and Peggy, my new DT mate on Little Miss Muffet is also a quilter and she wanted pictures (and I promised Stacy ages ago) so I just made some pictures and here the are. The first one is also my very first quilt made for my daughter when she was born to play on. It's pretty worn out, faded and stained but so precious. It's a log cabin with stars between the blocks. In the center is a square cut from a fabric with the cutest little bears on. This one was made with the sewing machine.
The 2nd one is a hand sewn mini quilt measuring 50 x 50 cm. That means that the pieces are very small too, a square measures only 2 x 2 cm. The last picture is e detail of the quilting, also hand done. The stitching on this one is very smal and it took me 6 months to make. I used a copy of an antique fabric from the Smithsonian for this one.
Isn't it gorgeous?! My quilt is much smaller, I copied some blocks from a book in which all the patterns are printed out. The author of the book writes letters to Jane as though she were still alive, which also makes it sort of like a novel. It's very special. I tried using antique looking materials and maintained the original size for the blocks which is 4,5 Inch or 11,5 cm. I combined the blacks with an alternating block to create a pattern in the quilt , so it looks quite different from the original. This quilt was also entirely handmade.
Well, I hope you enjoyed this little show, something different from cards for a change. Have a great weekend, hugs Frea
